My Story

About Me

For 15 years, I worked as a director of beauty and wellness product development.

Over those years, I reviewed thousands of ingredients, worked with hundreds of suppliers, and visited dozens of factories. And through all of it, I came to understand one simple truth:

Most of what fills the market is built by advertising and branding.
Only a small fraction holds real quality.

I was on the side of creating that small fraction.

I devoted myself to researching, selecting, and developing products with care. I learned what true quality feels like, not just on paper, but in real life, through experience, through touch, through standards that cannot be faked.

And one day, I asked myself:

What if I used the eye I spent 15 years building
to choose beautiful, honest things under my own name,
and offer them to people who truly value the real thing?

That was the beginning of Mika’s Studio.

The first piece I chose was our Kimono Robe, made by an atelier in Asakusa that has been crafting for over 70 years.
The moment I touched the fabric with my own hands, I knew.
This is something I want to bring to my customers.

I am not the maker.
I am the person who chooses.

I live in Redondo Beach.
For four years, I lived near Terranea in Palos Verdes, where I used to walk by the ocean every morning.
Even now, I still walk there several times a week.

I was born in Japan, and I have lived in the United States for 15 years.
Because I know what is genuine in both places, I believe I can be a bridge between them.

Now it is your turn.

To bring the 5% I chose into your everyday life.
